Trump/Vance 2024 Musk owns starlink and turned it off over Ukraine and Taiwan at putin's request. Musk owns SpaceX and controls access to space for the US. The talks are secret (well not any more and Elon is pissed about). The list of things Elon could do AGAINST the US? I think it is very inappropriate for him to be in secret talks with putin. If it was just business, the talks don't need to be secret. So, yeah, apples to apples comparison all the way - NOT!
