I saw Van Morrison about 20 years ago in Va.
I waited YEARS to see him.
and i was so disappointed. ill never buy tickets to see him again.
he was actually playing at a college. in the gym. acoustics were terrible.
and he sounded drunk. slurring his words, or perhaps it was his accent? i dunno. i just know i was disappointed.
my mom had bought me two tickets to see him for my birthday. i did take my best friend. i was actually ready to leave about 1/2 through the show but i kept hanging on, hoping against hope, he would play "into the mystic", by far my favorite Van song. i stayed until the bitter end. he never did.
however, his opening act James Hunter was wildly good. i enjoyed this song very much. ive never seen any announcement of him playing anywhere else since then. wiki states that he is a British R&B musician and soul singer. i checked his website and he is still playing out.

Have never seen van the man. Probably won't now based on your review, which I trust. His attitude toward covid pandemic was offputting to say the least. My fave van song: Fire in the Belly. Will check out Hunter. Thanks. Enjoy your Sunday.

@mysexualgoodtime I read that. Quite the statement. Almost walked out on Jesus & Mary Chain show in 1990. So arrogant. No interaction with the audience. Big disappointment.

@mysexualgoodtime When recording artists put in the effort, live music can be magical. Just something about a great, even good, live show is special. The music, the people (well, most of them), people watching. Just fun stuff!
I may have unfairly loathed Van for the years I was forced to play "Brown Eyed Girl" in various cover bands (some small part of me hopes that Brown Eyed Girl is a euphemism for a woman who enjoys anal sex) but......
My loathing was justified with Van's anti vaccine views along with some of his veiled antisemitism in some lyrics and just general shit personality overall. Hopefully he gets stung by bees when he's getting Tupelo Honey or trips over something in the dark when he's trying to Moondance or Gloria kicks him in the nuts.

I've seen Van Morrison. I walked out halfway through the gig. He just had his back to the audience. Arrogant and even disrespectful in my book.
so so so bad. i waited for years to see him, thinking i was seeing an awesome legend and all i got was a shit. i was sooo freaking disappointed. ill stick with albums
