This post, with poll, is about wax play. Wax play is part of the BDSM repertoire. it involves the dripping of candle wax onto someone's naked skin. Often, but not invariably, there will be someone dripping wax, the waxer, onto someone else's skin, the waxed.
The hot candle wax can provide sexual pleasure; wax play is a form of temperature play. Because candle wax is very hot and can burn, it's best to use special candles (eg soy candles) that melt at a lower temperature than the more mainstream candles (eg beeswax candles).

I've engaged in wax play a couple of times. I waxed someone and have been waxed by someone. Wax play did nothing for me sexually and on one occasion the wax was too hot on my skin though it didn't burn my skin. I gave no thought about the type of candle to use! However, I don't think wax play is for me.

Apparently, Japanese candles, having lower melting points so lower chance of leaving burns, are popular for wax play here.
I can well see why Japanese candles are popular for wax play.
50 people voted in a poll about spanking on my FANCY A SPANK? blog post. Not a great turnout but better than no one voting.
The vast majority of those who responded have spanked someone or have been spanked by someone. More men than women have spanked someone, and more women than men have been spanked by someone.
Well over 90 per cent of respondents enjoyed spanking, whether spanking someone or being spanked by someone.
Though not statistically significant, slightly more people disliked spanking someone than those disliking being spanked by someone. I wasn't expecting this slightly bizarre finding; I was expecting the opposite. Perhaps this means the spanker is overly concerned about hurting the spankee!

Flickering candles 🕯️ can enhance a romantic setting. Hot, melted wax will never be a sexual turn-on for me.

Oddly, this is not something I’ve experienced yet. It’s slightly frowned upon at parties because of being so messy. Although I’ve seen a few cases of waxing.

Wax play, bar for a couple of comments, isn't getting rave reviews here. I'm expecting opinion to be very divided with this activity. But all I can suggest is choose your candle carefully, coconut and soy candles seem the best.
Wax play can be sexy fun I have heard, my partners have never wanted to try it though. They have wax for play that doesn't burn and it comes off very easily I am told..

I've done it once, she liked it. I'd never want to be the waxee. Doesn't really appeal, pain is not my thing at all.
Having said that, I once got my legs waxed for charity, painful very breifly, but I did actually enjoy having hairless legs for a week or so. Made loads of money for the charity too. Needless to say, that was the one and only time! (hoest!!)
