This post, with poll, is about squirting. There is a lot of confusion surrounding squirting (or gushing as it's sometimes called). According to Rebecca Chalker, a women's health writer, squirting is "one of the most hotly debated questions in modern sexology."
There is considerable debate whether a female ejaculation is the same as squirting and there's considerable debate about the nature of the fluid being squirted - is it just urine or is it urine mixed in with other vaginal fluids, particularly those secreted from the woman's two Skene's glands either side of her urethra and near her G-spot? A woman's Skene glands are akin to a man's prostate gland.
But research, or at least my reading of research, suggests that urine is a major constituent of what's squirted but that the liquid squirted is colourless and odourless. Is it tasteless?
Research also suggests that up to 60 per cent of women have squirted while having sex.
However, I'm not an expert on squirting and I'm not a woman, so I'll be very interested what others think.

I've never had sex with a woman that squirted. There was one woman with whom I regularly had sex with who always wanted to lay down on a towel before we had sex but I never knew why. I still had a towel on standby whenever we had sex; the towel made her feel comfortable. The towel was never used to mop anything up.
Almost certainly the first time I came across squirting was at the sex parties for couples I used to host with my then partner. We used to to put a lot of mattresses, duvets and pillows around the house, but we found they got seriously sodden. We then bought lots of mattress protectors duvet protectors and pillow protectors to cut down our laundry bill. Problem solved!

While I don't do projectile squirting, I do gush quite a bit when aroused. Here's the important part - urine and vaginal gushes come from two different orifices. I don't know about other women but I can feel which opening the liquid is coming from and it isn't my urethra. I have a unique perspective on this. I am a cis-woman. I never squirted until I was 38. I always felt like I had to "pee" the closer I got to orgasm. It mostly happened with my wife. Almost regularly when we were younger, but it still happens even when we are over 60. Sometimes there is/was plenty of fluids.

If those are cotton protectors they mostly are not enough if those have some plastic or something then they are uncomfortable even under normal sheets. But we manage our last mattress is 5 years old and still good. 😁

I'm not sure what qualifies as "having sex". If we are talking about penis/vagina penetrative intercourse, I have never squirted while having sex. I have done it a handful of times as a result of very intense oral and manual stimulation. The first time it happened, it did not coincide with an orgasm which I didn't realize was possible. Mostly it was just wet and messy and while the manual stimulation felt ok enough - I wasn't that impressed. The time it was the best, I had a mind bending (like once in a lifetime) orgasm and squirted all over his face, hand/wrist and chest and couldn't even form words for a few minutes. I've had a few that were somewhere in between...more pleasurable, but not as mind bending or as volumous. I would note that I didn't feel any kind of release from my bladder.
