Curvology (I’ve been away for a while, so excuse me if this post is too redundant to recent topics…) Caitlin Flanagan wrote a book review in the Sunday, Nov 22, edition of the Washington Post’s Outlook (Opinion) section. The review was on a book entitled, Curvology, The Origins and Power of Female Body Shape, written by a “Cambridge (England) educated expert in veterinary science.” Well, “veterinary” should have been a tip off. The gist: No matter how much and how often society tries to make it otherwise, humans always come back to their evolutionary, animal nature – women’s curves are what makes the world go round. Specifically, it’s all about tits and ass, with the waist creating emphasis (the only part that’s better when it’s smaller compared to the others). The author evidently mixes real science and anthropology with doses of humor and uses some interviews with women to support his central theme: when women fall prey to thinness, they are unhappy; when they accept the lustful size of their tits, ass and thighs, their lives – particularly regarding mating – are happier. My doctorate degree hasn’t a goddamn thing to do with anything relevant to this, but I don’t feel it takes any formal education to realize that women with shapely bodies are the bomb. My experience also tells me that most men (yes, I did have a buddy who craved skinny women, but he was a strange dude anyway) got more turned on when the booty is shapely round and the breasts at least well defined if not large.
